Criminal Defense

What happens at an initial consultation?

Our goal is to put you at ease by discussing your case in a comfortable setting. Whether you are charged with a crime or need to consult an attorney about another matter, we will make every effort to answer all of your questions. Facing criminal prosecution or any legal proceeding can be a frightening and intimidating experience. We are dedicated to helping you through the process and keeping you informed every step of the way.

Prior to your consultation you will be asked to complete an information sheet. Should you prefer, please visit our ONLINE FORMS page to print out the form for completion prior to your scheduled consultation.

What do I need to bring, if I am discussing representation in a criminal matter?

In a criminal defense case, we will discuss your charges and your options. Whether you are charged with a misdemeanor or a serious felony, you need a skilled advocate to protect your rights. A copy of your arrest warrants and bond paperwork are helpful, but not absolutely necessary. If you have misplaced these items, copies are available from the arresting agency.

What are my rights, if I am charged with a crime?

It is important to know that an arrest is not a conviction. The most fundamental tenet of the criminal justice system in this country is that those who are accused of a crime are innocent until proven guilty. We will review your case and determine what is the best course of action to protect your rights. A solid, well organized defense is our objective.

Why do I want to avoid a conviction?

If you are convicted of a crime, it is likely that you will have a criminal record for the rest of your life. The State Department of Motor Vehicles will suspend your license if you are convicted of certain crimes. If you are convicted of a drug crime, your driver’s license will be suspended for up to one year. The Department of Motor Vehicles will also suspend the privileges of drivers convicted of certain offenses such as Driving Under the Influence. If you are convicted of Criminal Domestic Violence, you will lose your right to own a firearm. If convicted of a sex offense, you may have to be listed on a public Sex Offender Registry for the rest of your life.
